Safer Sex

Using condoms properly every time you have sex can reduce the risk of getting or passing on Chlamydia or other sexually transmitted infections (STI's).

1. Check to see that the condom is still within its use by date.

2. Carefully tear open the packet with your fingers. Don't use your teeth or scissors in case you accidently cut into the condom.

3. Squeeze the end of condom to remove any air and place over the tip of the penis.

4. Roll the condom down the full length of the penis. It is advisable to keep squeezing the end to make sure air does not get trapped inside. If you use lubricants, only use water-based ones (such as KY). Do not use baby oils or massage oils as these will rot the condom.

5. When finished, roll the condom off making sure you do not spill any semen.

6. Don't flush your condom down the toilet. Wrap in tissue and throw in the bin.
